Technique

Start from seated position, place one foot on the outside of the other leg's thigh. Rotate upward and backward - keep your back straight. Rotate at the same time the opposite side's shoulder towards the bent leg. Grasp your knee with your arm to get deeper in the stretch.

Tips

Extend the spine by imagine that someone is taking hold of your head and lifts straight up. Choose to have the stretched leg straight or slightly bent, whatever you think is most convenient.

Alternatives

Bend the straight leg if you can without buttocks leaving the ground.
